Dear Providence Elementary School Community,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

I am Shannon Papoulias, and I am honored to act as your Providence PTA President this year. It's with the incredible support of the other parent volunteers on the Executive Board and the Committee Chairs that makes the PTA's mission possible, so THANK YOU to those who have stepped up to support the organization.

I am very excited to be part of a program that gives back to a school and community I love. I am committed to ensuring the Providence PTA program lives in a space of collaboration, transparency, and approachability.

Like so many in the past few years, the PTA faced new and unexpected challenges posed by the pandemic. With the support of families, our local community and the school, we were able to reintroduce several in-person events last year that so many have grown to know and love, including our annual Movie Night, the Scholastic Book Fair, and a crowd-favorite, the Panther Dance. The board is optimistic that last year's momentum will continue, so that we may better provide our students the tools and resources they need to succeed. We hope you'll join us as we work to do more. Our goals for this year remain consistent: to support and strengthen Providence Elementary and to ensure all students can reach their full potential.

We are here to build community and to support you and your Panther through enriching programs, events, and fundraisers. While what we do this year may look different than previous years, we hope it will bring the same joy, fun, and excitement as years’ past.

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at Providence Elementary School is a not-for-profit organization that relies directly on the support of family and friends of Providence Elementary.

Through donations and with the help of our volunteers, the money we raise goes directly back to Providence – directly back into the enrichment of your child's education. By contributing to the PTA, you are helping fund things like:

  • Enriching students' education: New learning opportunities through art, science, music and more!
  • Powering classrooms: Supplies needed for our students to thrive in their classrooms or from home.
  • Supporting technology: Accessibility and support for students and teachers through classroom equipment.
    And so much more!

Each school year, we are excited to provide monetary gifts to each grade level (Pre-K through 6th) and other learning areas (Art, Math, Music, PE, etc.) totaling nearly $15,000! These funds benefit every student by helping to offset costs like field trips and classroom equipment. These gifts are made possible only through the generosity of our volunteers, community sponsors, and family and friends that participate in our events.

To raise these funds for Providence, the PTA hosts a wide-ranging mix of events and activities, including:

  • Fundraisers like Read-a-thon and the Scholastic Book Fair
  • Family Nights Out at many of our top local businesses
  • Special events like Movie Night, Bingo Night & Craft Night
  • Our spring Panther Dance

Whether you assist as a volunteer or simply participate at our events, your support and engagement benefit the students, staff and school, so please show up in whatever way you can!

Our glossary below will help you navigate some of the lingo used and events managed by the PTA. We hope it will answer questions you have, and we're happy to clarify anything that remains unclear. Just email us!

Volunteering with the PTA can be a rewarding experience!

  • You'll develop relationships with the teachers and school staff, and stay connected with the happenings at school and the community at large.
  • You'll build a village to support your child and can tap into a local and national network that supports all children.
  • You'll make new friends in a fun, welcoming environment and can connect with other families with kids your child's age.
  • You'll have a supportive space to share your ideas and can make an impact at school.

But first thing's first...

Please join!

Joining the PTA as a dues-paying member allows you to participate and vote in all General PTA meetings, and it gives you a say in how PTA funds are spent. There are 4 membership tiers with better and better Providence goodies the higher you go – you pick what works for you.

100% of the funds generated by joining our membership goes towards our mission of supporting the students and staff at Providence. 

Joining the PTA does NOT mean you have to volunteer. Volunteering your time is always appreciated but never required.

Get involved!

Once you have joined, your level of participation is up to you. You can sign-up for part of a single event, or you can participate in a number of opportunities we have behind the scenes. You can even do nothing beyond joining as a member, and you'll still be making a huge difference for our school!

We rely on all our amazing parents and caregivers, staff and community partners to help make Providence a safe, fun and welcoming school that supports all its students in the ways they need.

We aim to provide fun and engaging events for the entire family to enjoy, and our most popular events need the most support from volunteers. As we move forward with life post-pandemic, we need your help more than ever to ensure that the amazing programs we've worked so hard to build can be sustained.

We hope you'll consider joining us in growing the opportunities we offer to Providence. Whether you can share your professional expertise or a hidden talent, or offer an hour of your time, your help is needed and greatly appreciated!

We encourage you to sign up EACH YEAR to help all 900+ students have access to the amazing opportunities the PTA provides. Join any time during the school year.

Visit the PTA Membership Form under the "Forms & Payments" menu, and select the membership tier of your choice. Membership goodies are delivered to classrooms to be sent home with your child.
